How much does this cost?

It depends on scope, but here’s the honest ranges: a simple landing page runs $500–$1,000, a full business website $3,000–$5,000, custom web apps $3,500–$12,000, iOS apps $5,000–$15,000, and single-workflow automations $500–$1,500. All of that is typically 40–70% less than what agencies in San Diego quote for the same work. You get a fixed price before we start — no billable hours, no scope-creep charges.

How long does a typical project take?

Rough ranges by project type: marketing sites 5–10 days, custom web apps 2–4 weeks, iOS apps 3–6 weeks, single-workflow automations 5–10 days. Every project gets a firm timeline written into the Scope of Work contract before any code is written, so the schedule is formally agreed on and communicated up front — never a surprise mid-build.

What if I need changes after the project is done?

Every project includes two revision rounds during the build and 30 days of post-launch support for bug fixes and small tweaks — no extra invoice. After that, I don’t do hourly work at all. If something small comes up, reach out and I’ll put together a reasonable custom quote for the task. For larger new features, we’ll write a scoped change order so the work and price are clear before either of us starts.

Do I own what you build?

Yes. 100%. The source code, the credentials, the accounts, the domain, the data — all yours. I hand it over on project completion and I never hold code hostage to keep you paying. This is explicitly in every contract. If you want to fire me a year later and hire someone else to take over, you can, and nothing breaks.

What industries do you work with?

Most of my work is with San Diego small and mid-sized businesses: property management, real estate, hospitality, healthcare, legal, interior design, marketing agencies, home services, and professional services firms. Industry doesn’t matter as much as the shape of the problem — if you’ve got manual work that runs every week, scattered tools that don’t talk to each other, or a SaaS bill that feels too large, I can probably help.

Are you an agency?

No. I’m one person. That’s the whole point. You talk to the person who designs, builds, and ships the work — not an account manager relaying instructions to a junior dev overseas. Lower overhead means lower prices; fewer handoffs means fewer things lost in translation; one decision-maker means faster iteration.

What happens during the free consultation?

The 15-minute discovery call is a fit check — we figure out if I’m the right person for your problem. If we move forward, the 60-minute free consultation is a deep-dive: I ask about your current tools, workflows, team, and the specific friction points. I take notes, sometimes screen-share to look at your existing setup, and leave with everything I need to write a proposal. No pitch during either call — you’ll get a written proposal within a week.

I’ve been burned by a developer or agency before. How are you different?

Fair concern — most of my clients have one of those stories. Three things I do differently: (1) fixed pricing, written down before we start, so there are no surprise invoices; (2) weekly progress emails with video walkthroughs, so you always know what’s been built and what’s next; (3) full handoff at the end — source, credentials, documentation — so you’re not locked into paying me to keep the system alive. Beyond that, you always have my number. I’m your direct point of contact from the first call to the last commit, and you can bring any concern to me at any time. I’m a reasonable, personable person who actually understands how small businesses operate, and I’m not here purely to make money — I genuinely enjoy helping these businesses run better. Do you offer ongoing support?

Yes. I offer three tiers of monthly retainer support — Lite, Standard, and Growth — built around different levels of involvement, from light monitoring to close-to-embedded engineering. Where are you located?

San Diego, California. Most of my clients are SD-based too — I’m happy to come on-site for discovery, process audits, and training when it makes sense. I also work with out-of-region clients fully remote (Zoom, Slack, whatever tools you already use). Time zone tends to matter more than physical location at the build stage.

Question 11

Do I need to know anything technical to work with you?

Accepted Answer

No. You don’t need any technical background beyond knowing how your business actually runs day-to-day. If you can walk me through your current workflows — what you do, what tools you touch, where things get stuck — that’s more than enough. From there we’ll have a deeper conversation and I’ll guide you through anything I need from you in plain English. Translating business reality into the right technical solution is my job, not yours.

What tools and stack do you build on?

I pick the stack to fit the problem, but here are the tools I reach for most often: Next.js, React, and TypeScript for websites and web apps; Swift for iOS; Supabase, Postgres, and Airtable for data; Stripe for payments; Cal.com for booking; n8n, Make, and Zapier for automation; and the major AI APIs (Anthropic, OpenAI) for anything intelligence-driven. For hosting it’s usually Netlify or Vercel. You don’t need to know any of these names — that’s on me — but they’re the ones I trust to build fast, ship clean, and hand off without lock-in.

Can you take over a project another developer started?

Sometimes. During the free consultation I’ll take a deeper look at what’s already been built and tell you honestly whether it’s something I can pick up and finish, or whether it’d be better to start from scratch. Either way, you get a straight answer — not a quote that pretends a rebuild is a continuation, and not a continuation that should really be a rebuild.

How do payments work?

Payment terms are set in the Scope of Work contract I send over before any work begins, so everything is agreed on in writing up front. Most projects are structured as either a 50/50 split or 40/30/30, depending on the project’s size and timeline. A deposit is required to start, milestones are mapped out beforehand, and each payment due date is laid out in the contract. You can pay by Stripe, ACH, or check — whichever is easiest for you.

Do you sign NDAs?

Yes. If you’d feel more comfortable with an NDA in place before we start talking specifics, I have one ready to go. Just let me know on the discovery call and I’ll send it over.

Question 16

What if the project goes over scope?

Accepted Answer

Minor changes and small adjustments along the way are part of the build — I’ll absorb those without an extra invoice. If something genuinely bigger comes up that wasn’t in the original scope, I’ll send a change order contract that spells out the new work and the updated pricing, so we both agree to it in writing before anything changes. No surprise invoices, no scope creep absorbed silently into your bill.
